INCENTIVES

We work with the Habersham County Development Authority (HCDA) to offer unique local incentives to companies that choose to invest in Habersham County. In some cases, we also partner with the State of Georgia to offer state-level incentives to qualified companies that relocate or expand their operations. Habersham County Business Incentives

  • Bond Financing – The HCDA can offer qualifying businesses tax-free Industrial Revenue Bonds.  This financing mechanism can offer considerable savings, and the Habersham Partnership for Growth can guide companies through the bond process.
  • Property Tax Schedules – The Habersham Partnership for Growth works with the HCDA and city and county partners to develop special tax schedules for qualified investments of Real and Personal property.  The resulting tax savings will offset start-up costs in the early years of a new investment. Projects must satisfy certain financial requirements, such as new job creation, wage levels, and capital investment.
  • Freeport Inventory Tax Exemption – Raw materials and goods in process of manufacturing/distribution are eligible for exemption from taxes on those materials and goods. Please contact the Habersham Partnership for Growth to learn more about Freeport Tax Exemption.

State of Georgia Business Incentives

  • Job Tax Credit – Businesses in seven strategic industries can earn as much as $3,000 in annual tax savings for each new job created, for up to five years. The tax savings is applied to the company’s state tax liability.  To qualify, the company must create at least 10 jobs.
  • Sales and Use Tax Exemption – Qualified equipment purchases or leases may be exempt from sales tax if the equipment is used in the manufacturing process. Additionally, qualifying companies can claim exemption from state sales tax on energy used in the manufacturing process.

Workforce Development & Assistance

We know that one of the biggest challenges and needs facing employers today is the ability to find and keep the right workers with the right skills. As your single point of contact for economic development – including all your workforce needs – we will connect you with our partners in K-12, technical college and higher education to attract and keep the skilled workers you need to grow.

  • QuickStart Training Program – QuickStart is the nation’s #1-ranked training program available at no cost to qualified companies. QuickStart has been recognized by Fortune, Training, and Expansion Management magazines for its effectiveness in providing the most comprehensive training in the United States. At the Habersham Partnership for Growth, we start and guide you through the process with our state partners. CLICK HERE for more information.
  • 2018 Habersham County Workforce and Labor Report – Coming Soon (Tim Lee to provide when it is finished and we can add a paragraph and some bullet points with a link to the report)

Business Start-Up Assistance

Habersham County and the Habersham Partnership for Growth are committed to the success of small business and entrepreneurship. That’s why we work with partners across the county, region and state to provide the resources needed to support all stages of early business growth. To promote the growth of smaller companies, the Habersham Partnership for Growth works with the State of Georgia and the OneGeorgia Authority to offer:

  • Small Business Tax Relief, allows for faster depreciation on equipment deduction where businesses can choose to claim the expense in year one as opposed to over several years.
  • Angel investor tax credits, which encourage early investment in startup companies.
  • Financing of up to $250,000 through the Entrepreneurial and Small Business Development Loan Guarantee Program. The program provides financing (beginning at $35,000) to entrepreneurs and small businesses located in rural Georgia counties.
